The official definition of lagniappe is “a small gift to a customer by a merchant at the time of purchase,” or more broadly “something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure.” The Louisiana French brought the word into use in New Orleans and adapted it from a Spanish Creole word known as Quechua.
Essentially, it means a little something extra. For the purpose of this page, Lagniappe will be sharing my favorite recipes and things that I like. Or it could just be a little something extra I find interesting.
